Master Fellows Program
The Office of the Oakland City Auditor is pleased to announce the continuation of its Master Fellows Program which provides individuals with greater, or first time, performance audit experience in the public sector. At the conclusion of the program, successful Fellows will have a finalized audit for his or her professional portfolio, letter of recommendation and certificate of completion.
A Fellow's level of responsibility during the performance audit process will reflect his or her skills, abilities and professional experience; Fellows will work under the supervision of a senior performance auditor.
Requirements and Considerations
The City Auditor's Office holds a rigorous recruitment process to select its Fellows participants. Each Fellow will assist on one or two audits over the course of 15 weeks. All Fellows must be willing to see their project though to completion and commit to a minimum average of 15 hours per week. In consultation with his or her senior performance auditors, each Fellow will determine his or her work schedule.
All interested applicants must be willing to commit to the following conditions and requirements for consideration:
Posses or be currently enrolled in one of the following master's programs: Public Policy, public Administration, Political Science or Business Administration;
- OR Two years of professional experience in auditing, accounting, research or paralegal work;
- Be available to work for a minimum of 15 hours a week;
Be able to commit to a full quarter (15 weeks) of work;
Be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point);
Have an understanding that this will be unpaid, volunteer opportunity; and
- Be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement.
THE APPLICATION PROCESS

A cover letter that states clearly which quarter you are interested in applying for;
A minimum of one writing sample with no less than 500 words;
A cover letter; and
A list of 3 references.
The Office of the City Auditor is currently accepting applications for 2014 Master Fellows Program participants for the winter/spring session.
